Bella Bella in the limelight again

So proud of our BellaBella for going BIS at the club show this weekend. Also Jara was best male, and Jaunty won PG bitch and Nettle was 2nd in Open bitch.  Lovely show with a really friendly atmosphere, just like it always used to be.

trials

Bella had her first trials this week. Safe to say she loved every minute of her day out, especially meeting so many new fans (just a shame her actual line had to be abandoned through NO FAULT of her own) but here she is starting off really well.
I then had a lovely day on intermediate day as assistant judge, really nice to have such a friendly crowd and all the lines were well walked and well hunted.

Eleven and counting

Happy birthday to our oldest hound Vivid, just turned 11 today. Shes had a great 11 years packed full of adventures and amongst other things has starred in an insurance advert, been top puppy in breed in UK in 2005, been the cover girl on an international calendar, been a wonderful mother and been a proper Auntie to all of our other pups over the years, always the one to look after them and nurture them. Thanks for a great 11 years Vivid, and heres to a few more we hope.

Worrying week

Its been a nightmare week here with Dear old Cinnamon being struck down with a pyometra infection and ending up as an emergency surgery to have it removed. As you can see it was a whopper! She was very lucky it was removed before it ruptured. She is now convalescing quietly on the sofa!
Then on top of that our wonderful little filly Mabel cut her face badly around her eye, resulting in surgery and now we are just hoping that the wound mends as its in a really tricky area around her eye. Shes sporting a fetching zebra print fly mask to keep the pesky flies from the wound
We are just hoping there isnt a third disaster looming!

Baffle the proud Daddy

Baffle was thrilled that his daughters Nina Simone Truffe Medieval  and Nettle Truffe Medieval Farlap won the CC and res CC at the Bloodhound Club Championship show at the weekend, and even more so because breeder Marianne Faucq had come all the way from Belgium to watch. As you can see she was thrilled with her babies.

Congratulations

Farlap Bloodhounds and Houndseeker Bloodhounds are proud to announce that due to the wins of our two Czech puppies Cayman and Captiva (aka Jara and Rogue,) the top breeder of bloodhounds for 2014 has been announced as the Od hadiho Potoka kennel, in the Czech Republic. I believe this is the 1st time the award has been made outside of the UK, so Congratulations to Martina who bred these two smashing pups.

A little sunshine

Gioia Delle isole Lontane (from italy)  "BellaBella"
After really horrid month, first losing Candle then having Vivid in for emergency torsion surgery, (from which shes making a super recovery and looking great for such an old lady), its been nice to have a little warm sun on our backs, and the hounds have been loving the garden all day every day.

Candle in the wind

With heavy heart we announce the passing of our lovely "Candle" (Ch Farlap Candle). She was such a special girl to us, first and foremost she was the pack leader amongst the hounds, always calm and strong, never a cross word, her authority was accepted by all without discussion. Her normal calm disposition always went abit awry in the ring as she did find showing very exciting, and her lively behavior and very forward going movement was her trademark at the show, hence she was made up to a champion quite quickly as well as gaining group 3 at WELKS, and then retired from the ring to become a mother. She had one litter for us and spent the rest of her life happily on the sofa and running free in the fields, and enjoying her elevated position in the pack. She will be sadly missed by us all, and here's the last photo I took of her, just last week, enjoying  her favourite pastime of sunbathing!

Team Red

Nettle and Bella on their favourite lookout for cows and tractors!

Spring has sprung

I cant believe we are into March already.....we thought we should make the most of the sunshine and beat the grockels to the beaches, so Bella took her first trip to the seaside. She loved paddling in the rockpools but loved the dead seal a bit TOO much!! She was on a lead after that!

Happy new year!

OK Im a bit late, I know! Apologies to all our bloodhound friends for being a bit slow, but I spent the start of the New year in Hungary, bringing home Farlap Biscuit , to come back to live with us, having lived there for four years, her familys circumstances changed and we had to bring her home again. She settled in really well with everyone, and is a pleasure to have around, and she loves to "strut her stuff" when shes outside as you can see.
