green eyed monster on the bandwagon

I hear that the green eyed moster has struck again.......funny how one minute people are criticised for sending a puppy so far abroad, and the next minute......what a coincidence, they are sending pups to all ends of the earth...even ones that arent even born yet! Wish I had a crystal ball like that, that could tell me how my pups would turn out at such an early stage!

Cautious does it again

Farlap Cautious whom I own jointly with Steve in Austraila, has won best minor Puppy in Show (All breeds) for the 2nd time this weekend. Fantastic news! Cant wait for the piccies.

Baily gets Busy (Lizzy)

This one cheered me up!!! His owners sent me this great shot of Farlap Crofter helping with the gardening.......I think the halo has now been thrown away!

The week gets better and better!

I was away for a few days working at Royal bath and West show, and when I unpacked my tent, I discovered that the last time it was used and packed away....someone..... who will remain nameless, left a half pint of milk inside, and it had grown into a wonderful cheesy culture enveloping most of the inner sections of the tent! I spent 3 nights camping in the van instead!!!
Then on the last day of the show I cricked my neck and have been in agony ever since, unable to drive or walk, and struggling from one chair to another. To top it all, Drizzle managed to knock the latch on one of the ferrets houses, and unknown to us they escaped....suddenly we heard the most awful screeching and discovered one ferret with its leg caught in a trap we had set for the rats. Andrew tried to release the trap but its a fenn trap and very powerful and not easy to release. I held the ferret but then the hounds came to see what all the noise was about so I moved her away from their noses, and she took advantage of the new position by latching onto Andrews hand. So now theres a screeching ferret (you wouldnt believe how loud!), Andrew swearing, the hounds all jostling for a front row view, and me trying to prise its jaws apart with a teaspoon! Eventually the only option was to whack her on the nose with a spoon and shock her into releasing Andrews hand...this seemed to work and we got the trap of her leg and after a few hours she seems fine. The other ferret is still at large somewhere which in itself presents a problem because last time we had an escapee, she went over to the farm nextdoor and killed their hens. That was 6 months ago and guess what....yesterday they went out and bought new ones, so now we are just awaiting a phone call and a bill for more chickens!
On to bloodhound news, if anyone enjoys the breed calenders that are produced in the USA each year, you may be pleased to finally see some European hounds, with nice furnishings and bone are appearing in the 2010 ones. Cythar, Basnicky and Tarnish are all starring in glorious full colour!!

Flower power

I was sent a lovely pic of baily (Farlap Crofter) in the bluebells by his owners.

Good news from Australia, where Cautious won Best baby Puppy in hound Group and was shortlisted for BPIS.
News in from mexico, and it looks like dog shows are getting back to normal after the Swine Flu pandemic. Farlap Curate has his first show at the national Show in mexico City soon, so fingers crossed for him!

Girls Day Out

The girls had a day out last week to visit their brother Harry. Poor Harry didnt know quite what had hit him at first as he is used to the quiet life, but after a few minutes he was sharing his toys and showing them all around his fields.

maternity leave is over - WELKS res CC

Logic had her first show today, since having the puppies 5 months ago, and won the reserve CC, so we were delighted with that. Still a bit of work to do to get all the bits back in trim (Logic, not me.....Im past the saving stage!!) but was really pleased to get her back in the ring and she was really enjoying her trip out .

Baby baily grows up!

Some new piccies of little "Baby baily" (Farlap Crofter) came as rather a shock as he seems to have grown up!! Here he is enjoying yet another trip to the coast, as well as a snooze from his position of authority at the top of the stairs!

Welsh choir

Heres The General, who lives in Wales, doing his impression of a Welsh male Voice Choir.......I expect it echos all around the mountains!

Tennant at School

Tennant had a trip to gundog training school yesterday, which started off well, but when he realised he was the only man amongst 6 ladies, his head went all fuzzy and he just couldnt concentrate. Every retrieve was a disaster as he rushed over to kiss the girls and forgot all about dummy training! Andrew is going to slip Bromide in his tea before the next lesson!
On a better note, he won Best of Breed and Best Puppy in breed at Cornwall Gundog, and here he is with his half sister Skarlat who was BOS,(note the glazed look on his face......he was in love again!). The next weekend he went to South Western Gundog Club, on his Birthday, and won BOB and BPIB AGAIN!! What a star.

It looks like his other bloodhound family have now accepted him in their homes and he is completely in charge of everyone!!

The great escape!!

At last the news we have been waiting for all month......Shelley (Farlap Cautious) is out of jail....well....out of quarantine anyhow!! Shes sailed thought it without a hitch and mostly thats down to the good folk at the Sydney station and to Steve and his family who dedicated themselves to so many visits and ensuring she was getting the very best of everything. Here she is, photographed today at her new home with Steve, Michelle, Shaylee and Michael, in the lovely Oz sunshine.

photos!

Like the proverbial Cobblers children....I never seem to get "show" pix of my own hounds unless I get a colleague to do some at a show for me!
I took C&C along to a small open show last weekend, where I was working, just so they could take in the dogs and the people and the show atmosphere. They really enjoyed all the attention and the sunshine, but best of all our dear friend John was there with his trusty camera, and he took some pix of the babies for me, with me standing them. Thanks John!
(Candle top and Cinnamon bottom) Cinnamon unfortunately was transfixed by where her sister was going without her, and so has her ears up high.......but not to worry!

funny thing happened at the forum............

I belong to an online falconry forum and noticed a post about HWV so thought id take a look.....and there was a photo on there of a dog that could be Tennants twin brother! After a bit of investigation I discovered it was another of Brokks children so its great to see Tennants half sister is also a falconers dog. Im hoping to make contact and share info with the owner.

overseas news

Dominic is having a great time in his new home in Chihuahua....but despite having lots of other hounds to play with, his favourite place is in bed with Guillermo!!
Sheila (Now Shelly) is also settling in well although she still has 5 days in quarantine before she can finally go home with Steve and the family. They have visited her nearly every day and its amazing how well she has settled to her new life. here she is having a cuddle with Shaylee.

double trouble

The terrible twosome are inseperable and I am having to take them out individually just to get them used to spending time apart. Luckily for Tennant, they are more interested in playing together than in tormenting him and pulling his beard, a practice he disapproved of but was too polite to complain about. He can be seen here, patiently sitting and waiting for his quota of the attention.
